Compare 2026 R1T Dual Large and Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD EPA records, energy use, cargo checks, charging access and ownership scenarios.

R1T or Cybertruck: start with your cargo and routine
Shortlist the R1T when its gear-tunnel and bed arrangement solve a real storage need; shortlist the Cybertruck when its covered-bed layout and controls work better for your own cargo and passengers. Demonstrate those features on the actual truck. This comparison is document research, so it does not award ride-quality, off-road or reliability wins we have not measured.
The table uses a 2026 R1T Dual Large with 22-inch wheels and a 2026 Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD. They are EPA certification configurations, not interchangeable retail equipment lists. Rivian now uses different 2027 trim naming, while Tesla manuals distinguish Cybertruck versions. Do not transfer a new model page’s features onto one of these earlier records.

Fields unavailable for every selection are omitted; individual gaps are marked. Range cells show their rating basis. Maximum towing requires the stated equipment; it is not the rating of every vehicle in a trim. MSRP/list prices are dated U.S. base prices before destination, taxes, fees, options, and incentives; see each price’s publication date and notes.

These records show 329 EPA-rated miles for the R1T and 325 for the Cybertruck. That small rated gap cannot establish which reaches your destination with more charge in wind, winter or while towing. Use the same charge window and look at the actual charging stops, rather than choosing on four miles in a laboratory-based rating.
Their EPA combined energy-use figures are also attached to these configurations and include charging losses. They support a repeatable energy-cost scenario, but not a promise about a particular motorway journey. Keep the wheel specification and measurement basis visible, and do not add another charging-loss allowance to EPA wall-energy consumption.
Charging and towing need different evidence
Rivian’s current guidance distinguishes 2022–2025 CCS-equipped vehicles from 2026-onward native NACS vehicles. Inspect the inlet and manufacturer-approved equipment instead of assuming an older R1T needs the same adapters as this 2026 example. Check site compatibility and session rules for both trucks; a shared connector does not create identical average charging power.
The reviewed manufacturer limits are 7,700 lb for the Gen 2 R1T Dual Large with a weight-distributing hitch and 7,500 lb for Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD. Rivian limits towing without that hitch to 5,000 lb. Neither model’s 11,000 lb variant maximum applies. Check individual loading limits and trailer-compatible charging separately.
Price the actual ownership choices
The dated vehicle-price examples are $79,990 for the R1T and $74,990 for the Cybertruck, before the exclusions shown in their sources. Rivian’s source preserves a vehicle price from a closed promotion; that promotion is not an active offer. A current seller quote may change the comparison substantially.
Request insurance and tire quotes for each actual candidate, confirm remaining coverage and ownership transfer, and inspect the fitted cargo equipment. Enter those real prices and your charging mix in the ownership calculator. A higher original price can be outweighed by condition or equipment, and a lower one can be outweighed by an unresolved inspection or charging-access problem.
