Compare a 2026 Sierra EV Elevation Extended Range and 2025 Lightning Flash: range, towing equipment, cargo options and used-versus-new costs.

Sierra EV or Lightning: separate new and used shopping
Investigate the Sierra EV when its documented battery tier, towing equipment and cargo options address your full-size pickup needs. Investigate a particular Lightning when its condition, fitted equipment and real purchase price make the stronger ownership case. Ford says the battery-electric Lightning is no longer available in its current form; a used or remaining-stock comparison differs from a new factory order.
The table selects a 2026 Sierra EV Elevation Extended Range and a 2025 F-150 Lightning Flash Extended Range. It does not pair a Sierra Denali maximum with an Elevation base price. The Ford example is the documented 123 kWh Flash; an older Extended Range truck can have different hardware and should be researched separately.

Fields unavailable for every selection are omitted; individual gaps are marked. Range cells show their rating basis. Maximum towing requires the stated equipment; it is not the rating of every vehicle in a trim. MSRP/list prices are dated U.S. base prices before destination, taxes, fees, options, and incentives; see each price’s publication date and notes.

300 kWManufacturer peak; available 800 V DC fast chargingGMC’s 2026 Elevation specification lists up to 300 kW with available 800 V DC fast charging. The selected Sierra carries a 410-mile manufacturer-reported EPA estimate, compared with 300 miles for the selected Lightning. The difference is useful when setting up route scenarios, but it does not predict a 110-mile advantage with a trailer or in winter. Use equal charge windows and check available compatible charging before comparing practical travel days.
A directly comparable EPA consumption value is absent for both named retail records here. Do not infer running cost from pack size, range or brand. Use your own labeled consumption assumptions in the ownership calculator and test different home/public charging shares. A larger battery reference does not remove installation or time-of-use constraints at home.
Towing and cargo equipment must travel with the rating
The Sierra towing value belongs to the properly equipped Elevation Extended Range record. The Lightning value requires Max Trailer Tow. Neither is an unrestricted rating for every truck carrying the same name. Check payload, hitch limits, loaded trailer weight and the individual loading label rather than choosing on the larger published maximum alone.
GMC lists MultiPro Midgate as available on the 2026 Elevation, so verify it on the actual build instead of treating it as standard. Demonstrate the resulting seating and cargo arrangements. On the Lightning, inspect the powered frunk and fitted outlets, inventory charging equipment and confirm the onboard charger for the actual model year.
Let the written quotes and inspection decide
The selected dated base prices are close enough that equipment and transaction differences deserve attention. They exclude destination, fees and options and come from different publications. A current Sierra quote and a used Lightning asking price answer a different question from those historical base-price lines.
Obtain insurance, tire and charging-installation quotes, inspect the used candidate and confirm warranty coverage by VIN. Use the linked model guides before placing a deposit. If the Sierra’s cargo/range configuration solves a recurring need, investigate it; if a documented Lightning fits the same need at a better complete cost, keep that real vehicle on the shortlist. No road-test or reliability winner is implied.
