Sierra EV or R1T: cargo access is a useful first filter
Investigate the Sierra EV when a full-size cargo arrangement and its available Midgate solve a regular hauling need. Investigate the R1T when its gear tunnel and own cargo layout better fit what you carry. Confirm the actual equipment, place your load or measurements in each truck and check where passengers sit when cargo features are in use.
The selected records are the 2026 Sierra EV Elevation Extended Range and the 2026 Rivian R1T Dual Large with 22-inch wheels. They come from different evidence types: a named manufacturer trim and an EPA certification record. Neither selection stands in for all Sierra battery tiers or every R1T generation and motor combination.

Fields unavailable for every selection are omitted; individual gaps are marked. Range cells show their rating basis. Maximum towing requires the stated equipment; it is not the rating of every vehicle in a trim. MSRP/list prices are dated U.S. base prices before destination, taxes, fees, options, and incentives; see each price’s publication date and notes.

2026 GMC Sierra EV · Elevation Extended Range
Manufacturer-published trim and range pairing. No battery capacity, payload, or peak-power figure is inferred from other trims.
This is an EPA configuration label, which may cover multiple retail trims. Wheel, tire, and equipment differences matter. A record does not confirm current retail availability.
The Sierra’s selected manufacturer-reported EPA estimate is 410 miles; the R1T’s EPA record is rated at 329 miles. That is a useful rated reference for a long journey, not a measured verdict on trip duration. Station spacing, available charge windows, conditions and time spent at each stop can change the practical outcome.
The R1T has a reviewed EPA wall-energy consumption figure, while this exact Sierra record does not. Keep that evidence gap visible rather than filling it from a Denali, a different wheel package or a battery-size calculation. Run separate labeled cost assumptions and replace them with comparable evidence when available.
Verify towing and charging for the individual candidates
The Sierra’s selected maximum requires the documented equipment. Rivian rates Gen 2 Dual Large at 7,700 lb with a weight-distributing hitch, or 5,000 lb without one. Its Max-battery figure is different. Compare the fitted trucks, loading labels, passengers, cargo and tongue weight before treating either maximum as suitable for your trailer.
Rivian’s charging instructions distinguish older CCS vehicles from 2026-onward NACS vehicles. Inspect the actual port and approved adapter set. For both trucks, check compatible network locations and parking geometry with your trailer. Do not transfer a brand-wide charging claim or another Sierra trim’s electrical specification onto the selected records.
Compare the whole purchase, including equipment
The Sierra base-price source and the R1T vehicle-price example are dated, exclude stated charges and do not certify current availability. The Rivian source’s old promotion is closed. Request written quotes for actual candidates, including the equipment needed for your load, before treating a published price difference as money saved.
Then enter insurance, tires, charging access and realistic resale alternatives in the ownership calculator. For used trucks, compare the inspection results, original in-service date, coverage and service records. Prefer the configuration whose verified cargo routine and budget fit you; a higher trim name or a larger rated range cannot substitute for those checks.
